Your Warm, Cosy Cubitt’s Granny Flat – Quality Products we Use to Keep You Warm

July 17, 2021

Do you find your home struggles to keep warm in winter? With such high energy costs, keeping cosy during the winter months is an important consideration for many Australians looking to downsize or invest by building a Granny Flat. If your energy bills reach eye-watering heights, or you can’t wear enough layers at home, or are always searching for where that dreaded draft comes in from, it may be of some comfort to know that a Granny Flat built by Cubitt’s provides year-round comfort. How? Here are just a few of the top-quality materials we use to keep Granny Flats warm in winter:

Stylish, Energy-Efficient and Durable Cladding from James Hardie, Weathertex and More

Available in a range of colours and profiles to choose from, vinyl cladding is just one of the many inclusions you receive with a Granny Flat built by Cubitt’s. Vinyl cladding is a popular choice for modern homes, as it brings many benefits such as being attractive, virtually maintenance-free, strong from a fire safety perspective as well as providing a form of insulation to keep you warm in winter. Cubitt’s also offers optional cladding upgrades for our customers, from top Australian brands such as Weathertex and James Hardie.

Roofing Blanket for Year-Round Comfort and Quiet

Super soft and Australian made, roofing blankets provide excellent thermal benefits to keep your living space warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The roof blanket material has been handpicked by Cubitt’s and also acts as an acoustic insulative barrier, helping to reduce noise from entering your home such as aircraft and rain.

High-Performance Insulation for Year-Round Comfort

Cubitt’s have actively sourced Australian-made, innovative and highly-effective thermal insulation, to help moderate the temperature in our Granny Flats, while also helping to protect them from drafts coming through, dust particles and external noise. Effective insulation will assist in lowering your energy bills and reducing your carbon footprint.

Protective Sarking and Lining

Every Granny Flat built by Cubitt’s includes quality insulation lining and sarking, to keep our customers comfortable in winter. Like a protective skin, these wall wraps provide an additional layer of protection to your walls, minimising drafts and making your insulation more effective. Similarly, sarking is a flexible layer that sits under your roof, helping to insulate your home while also helping to protect your home from dust, condensation and bush fire embers.

Optional Double-Glazing and Carpeting

Do you live in a cooler area of NSW or the ACT? No problem. Unlike most other builders, Cubitt’s offers custom-built Granny Flats to suit your needs, with vast optional extras you can choose from. When it comes to additional warmth in the home, you can choose to add carpeting to your Granny Flat or even double-glazed windows and doors. If you have never had double-glazing before, double-glazed windows and doors have two panes of glass that are bonded together in such a way as to limit the flow of hot or cold air into the home, therefore acting as additional insulation. No need to compromise your view or sunlight just to keep the heat in!

Cubitt’s can customise Granny Flats to include expanded pantry space if you enjoy entertaining, or wheelchair ramps and wider doorframes if needed. We also have luxury lifestyle add-ons available, such as cathedral ceilings, and alfresco outdoor decking areas to soak up the winter sun with a cuppa.
