The Banksia, our most popular two bedroom design has evolved over the three decades our team have been building it – each time to take on a new interpretation of the natural beauty it was intended to be. Our flagship showroom in Emu Plains, Sydney was recently renovated to show off our upgrades and inclusions, as well as reflect some of the design options you have amongst our collections.
The Banksia II, on display in the showroom is specifically inspired by spaces in the NSW Blue Mountains, and combines the beauty of the natural landscape with contemporary design elements to create a unique and functional space. With its deep earthy palette, sleek black appliances, and gold and black accents throughout, the design is sure to impress. Lets take a look in detail.
Statement Green Kitchen
When designing a Granny Flat kitchen, there are many elements to consider - from the colour palette to the appliances, and everything in between. In this kitchen, we aimed to create a deep earthy palette inspired by the natural landscape, contrasted against crisp whites and sharp blacks to give a mid-century take on a contemporary feel.
The black premium appliances from Omega, including the oven, cooktop, and dishwasher are a perfect match for the overall aesthetic, while the under-mount range hood adds a sleek space-saving touch. The textured tiling splashback, made from handmade Spanish glazed tiles, is a luxurious upgrade. The splashback window brings in more light, allowing you to bring the outside in and create a harmonious connection with the natural landscape.
Gold and black accents are what drive the contemporary feel of this kitchen, with Momo handles from Furnware group adding a touch of sophistication. The top cabinetry is handless, with a polyurethane shaker profile in topiary for a clean and modern look. Additional storage in the form of complete overhead cabinetry and a full-height pantry provides ample space for all of your kitchen essentials.
Multi-Purpose Laundry
One of the standout features of the Banksia two bedroom Granny Flat is the separate laundry room, which provided us an opportunity to fit out in matching cabinetry and additional storage. This space can be used in a variety of ways, making it truly versatile.
Imagine for example turning your laundry room into an extension of your kitchen, a butler's pantry – in a Granny Flat! With plenty of storage space for kitchen essentials and a discreet washing machine and dryer under-bench offer up additional bench space, so you can fold your laundry and get on with your day – or hide the kitchen mess when you have friends over to play.
We’ve fit this out to be more laundry - another great feature is the hanging rail. This provides a convenient place for indoor drying and steaming, so you don't have to rely on outdoor drying lines – or door handles 😉

High-End Terrazo Bathroom
Achieving a minimalist sophisticated bathroom started with floor-to-ceiling tiling in large format terrazzo look ceramic tiles, the bathroom references natural materials for a warm and inviting feel. The tiles are not only stylish but also practical, providing a durable and easy-to-clean surface.
The vanity colour is florentine-walnut. For extra bathroom space, the Banksia bathroom features an upgraded arched mirror that sits on a practical cabinet. The custom stone top vanity with an above mount basin is a modern touch that adds to the minimalist feel of the room. The shark nose (handle-less) vanity, tiled floor waste, frameless shower screen, and back-to-wall toilet are all upgrades that contribute to the contemporary minimalist feel.
A tiled shower shelf at full length provides maximum functionality and is a great place to store your shower essentials. The magnificent rainfall showerhead in gold with a matching in-wall basin tap and mixer adds a touch of elegance to the bathroom and provides a spa-like experience.

Granny Flat Living Space
The Banksia floor plan offers a spacious and inviting open living and dining area that is perfect for entertaining guests or just relaxing after a long day. The galley kitchen, already described, is a great feature, making it easy to prepare meals while still being a part of the social atmosphere.
The living and dining area is spacious enough to fit a three-seater couch and a four-person dining table. The highlight windows offer privacy as well as light, and the square set raked ceiling adds height and dimension to the space.
The walls are finished in crisp Taubmans Brilliant White, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The hybrid waterproof flooring throughout the living areas in Queensland Spotted Gum is both durable and stylish, making it the perfect choice for an open living space.
Two Cosy Granny Flat Bedrooms
The Banksia offers two spacious and stylish bedrooms, our aim was to create the perfect place to retreat after a long day. Each bedroom features built-in wardrobes as standard. In our fit out for the showroom we have chosen to feature one wardrobe mirror door and the other in white glass.
The bedrooms are further enhanced by the vertical James Hardie 100mm Hardigroove cladding, which adds texture and depth to the walls. The matching feature twin wall lights with gold accents provide the perfect amount of light for relaxing or getting ready in the morning. The black frames to the wardrobes, windows, and fixtures and fittings continue the theme we have described through this beautiful fit out, and add to the sleek and modern look of the bedrooms.
Premium twist pile carpet provides a comfortable surface to walk on and wake to and is a palatial touch that adds to the overall feel of the bedrooms. The Gainsborough matt black handles and Hume doors complete the look, providing a cohesive and stylish finish.
Granny Flat Contempory Styling
When it comes to decorating a home, it can be a challenge to choose the right furniture and styling that suits your taste and budget.
